Our suggestions on how to properly use a candle
Safety first!
How the candle is used is ultimately decided by the user. These are our recommendations for the safest way to use our candles. These recommendations may affect the hot throw of the candle and candle burning time. A good portion of the information we have here on candle safety comes from the ideas at www.candles.org.
Our suggested age for use of candles is eighteen or older.
Never leave the burning candle unattended
Before use:
-
Make sure to trim the wick in-between one eighth to no higher than one quarter of an inch. Somewhere in between is optimal.
-
Keep the candle free of any foreign objects including matches and wick trimmings.
-
Burn the candle in a well-ventilated room.
-
We suggest using a long matchstick or a long-reach lighter to light candle wick.
-
Do not burn the candle for longer than 4 hours. Try to let cool for at least 2 hours before relighting.
-
Try to burn the candle for at least 2 hours after lighting.
While burning:
-
While the candle is lit, always be within eyesight of the candle.
-
Keep away from flammable objects. Such as drapes, carpet, books, paper, etc.
-
Keep away from children, pets, etc.
-
Only burn candle on a level, fire resistant surface.
-
Stop use of the candle when one-half inch remains on bottom.
-
Never touch or move a candle while lit. Do not touch or move if wax is liquified.
-
Place burning candles at least 3 inches apart.
-
Our candles are not intended to be used as light such as a night light.
-
Extinguish the candle after use. Make sure the candle is out completely. No smoldering.
-
Use a candle snuffer to put out a flame on the candle. This reduces the chances of any hot wax spilling anywhere.
-
Never use a sharp object or knife to remove wax drippings.
-
Do not touch or move the candle until after the candle has had enough time to be completely cooled down.
Please enjoy our candles for their intended purpose.
